The official form, explained

Apply in six steps

The screens below are simplified. The real portal is in English and Vietnamese; wording can change a little, the order does not.

  1. 1Open the portal

    Open evisa.gov.vn

Open it with the button below, then choose e-Visa issuance → For foreigners outside Vietnam.

Skip sponsored search results. They are agencies, not the government.
    Open evisa.gov.vn
  2. 2Upload

    Upload passport and photo

Tick the agreement, then upload two images. Double-check anything the portal fills in for you.

    • Passport data page, flat and sharp
    • Portrait photo, as above
  3. 3Your details

    Fill in your details

Name, birth date, nationality, passport number and expiry, email, address in Vietnam.

Names exactly as in your passport. One wrong letter and the visa won't match it.
  4. 4Your trip

    Entry type, dates, airports

    • Single ($25): in once, out once. Multiple ($50): you leave and come back.
    • Dates: start on or before arrival, end on or after departure.
    • Airports: where you will really land and leave, e.g. Noi Bai (Hanoi).
  5. 5Review and pay

    Check, then pay

Compare every line with your passport, then pay by card. The fee is not refundable.

Card declined? Approve it in your banking app and try again.
  6. 6Wait, download, print

    Save code, get your visa

Screenshot your registration code (starts with E). After 3–5 working days, check Search e-Visa status.

    • Granted? Download the PDF
    • Check name, number and dates
    • Print it, keep it on your phone

Before you submit

Questions

E-visa FAQ

Not covered here? Lana usually replies on WhatsApp within the hour.

Ask Lana · +84 336 515 830
How early should I apply?

Processing is usually 3–5 working days, but weekends, Vietnamese public holidays and Tết add time. Apply 2–4 weeks before you fly. You can apply up to about three months ahead, as long as the visa covers your arrival date.

Refused, or a mistake on it?

The government fee is not refunded and a refused application cannot be edited; a new application with a new fee is needed. Check the review page slowly before you pay: it is the cheapest moment to fix a typo.

Do children need their own e-visa?

Yes. Every traveller with their own passport needs their own application and fee, including babies.

Single or multiple entry?

Single entry if you arrive once and leave once. Choose multiple entry if your trip leaves Vietnam and comes back, for example Hanoi, then Siem Reap, then Ho Chi Minh City.

Can Vside apply for me?

We don't process visas, and you don't need anyone to: the official portal is in English and this guide walks you through it. If you get stuck on a question, message Lana on WhatsApp, +84 336 515 830 (open chat), and we'll explain it, free.

Do I need to print it?

Bring a printed copy and keep the PDF on your phone. Some airlines check it at check-in, and a phone battery can die at the wrong moment.

Visa sorted. Now the fun part.

Day trips, cruises and private cars, planned by locals in Hanoi.

Vside Travel is a travel company, not a government agency, and does not process visas. Rules change; evisa.gov.vn has the final word.
