Where to sleep in Hanoi

Hanoi hotels, booked by the people who meet you there.

We only list a hotel here once we have put our own guests in it and gone up to photograph the rooms ourselves — so this page is short on purpose. Tell us your dates: we check the live rate, hold the room, and you pay at the desk. No booking fee from us. Want somewhere that is not here? Ask us — we book across the whole city.

The Old Quarter — both hotels on this page are a few streets from here, one at the market end and one by the lake.

We quote the dates you pick here. Rates below are indicative starting prices — the real number depends on your dates, and we confirm it before you commit to anything.

The place we actually send people

About the prices: the hotel’s listed rate, per room per night, taxes and fees in. Hanoi moves a lot with the season — treat these as a bracket. The number we send back is the one that counts.

Nothing matches that yet

This page only lists what we have stayed in and photographed ourselves, so it is deliberately short — but we book right across Hanoi. Tell us the area and the budget and we will shortlist for you.

Which part of Hanoi should you wake up in?

Area 01

The Old Quarter & Hoan Kiem

The thirty-six streets and the lake they wrap around. Everything is walkable, the food starts at six in the morning, and you will not need a taxi for three days. The cost is noise — the lanes around Ta Hien run loud until midnight, and rooms are small because the buildings are narrow by law.

Best for first-time visitors and short stays.

Area 02

Ba Dinh

Wide boulevards, embassies, the mausoleum and the Temple of Literature. Twenty minutes’ walk or six by car from the Old Quarter, and quiet enough that you hear birds instead of horns. Fewer late-night options, and you will use Grab in the evenings.

Best for a second visit, or anyone who wants to sleep.

Area 03

West Lake & Tay Ho

The resort end of Hanoi: lakeside pools, long sunsets, brunch places, and the expat neighbourhood along Xuan Dieu. Twenty to thirty minutes by car from the Old Quarter, so plan on transfers — but it is the only part of the city that feels like a holiday rather than a capital.

Best for families, longer stays and anyone with a pool on the list.

No booking fee

Tell us the hotel and the dates — we’ll come back with the real price.

One message, one reply, usually the same day and always within 24 hours. If the hotel you picked is full or overpriced for your nights, we will say so and put two alternatives next to it.

Nothing is charged here and no card is taken. Prefer to talk? (+84) 84 635 9779 — Philip or (+84) 336 515 830 — Lana.

Request sent — we’re on it.

A copy is in your inbox. We check the rate with the hotel and reply within 24 hours, usually much sooner. If it is urgent, message (+84) 336 515 830 and say you filled in the hotel form.

Booking a room through us

Do you charge more than booking the hotel myself?

No. We quote the hotel’s own rate for your dates and add nothing on top — we are paid by the hotel, not by you. Where we can beat the public price we will, because we book these places often; where we cannot, we will tell you the online rate is better and send you the link.

When and how do I pay?

Almost always at the hotel, on arrival or at check-out, in cash or by card. A few properties ask for a deposit on peak dates — if yours does, we say so in the quote before you commit, never after.

Can you book a hotel that is not on this list?

Yes. This page is a shortlist, not our inventory — there are over three thousand licensed hotels in Hanoi. Tell us the area, the budget and what matters (pool, quiet, family room, late check-in) and we will come back with two or three that fit.

What about the rest of the trip — Ninh Binh, Halong, Sapa?

Same thing, same people. We book the hotels and the cruises along the whole route and keep the transfers joined up, so nobody is standing in a lobby at six in the morning wondering who is collecting them. Say where you are going in the notes and we will price the lot.

Airport pickup?

Noi Bai is about 45 minutes from the Old Quarter. We run private transfers with an English-speaking driver who waits in arrivals with your name on a board — tick the box in the form and we will add the price to the same reply.

Is anything charged when I send the form?

Nothing. No card details are taken on this page and there is no payment step. The form sends us an email with your dates; you get a copy of the same email so you have a record of what was asked.

One trip, one team

Rooms, drivers and days out — booked together.

Most guests who book a hotel with us end up booking the days around it too, because it is simpler when one team holds the whole schedule. Send the dates once and we will build the rest around your check-in.
